How to properly install a Back Up Light Switch on GMC Canyon?

The first step to replace the back up lamp switch requires vehicle elevation and support. Begin by disconnecting the back up lamp switch electrical connector at the pigtail then remove the strap that holds the pigtail to the transmission. The back up lamp switch removal requires separate removal of both the aluminum washer and the switch itself. Use a new aluminum washer when installing the back up lamp switch into the transmission case. Torque the switch to 44 nm (32 lb ft). Reconnect the back up lamp switch electrical connector at the pigtail after securing the pigtail to the transmission through the tie strap then lower the vehicle.

How to replace the Back Up Light Switch on the NV 3500 on GMC Sierra 1500?

Start by raising and properly supporting the NV 3500 before you can replace the back up lamp switch. The back up lamp switch needs disconnecting from its electrical connection followed by back up lamp switch removal. The new back up lamp switch comes with pre-installed thread sealant on its threads so users should carefully follow installation procedures. Tighten the switch to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.) before joining the back up lamp switch electrical connector then lower the vehicle.
