Starting with the removal of the rear propeller shaft and rear output shaft seal allows an inspection of the rear output shaft bushing for signs of wear or scoring. To remove the rear output shaft bushing properly use the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer (J45380) by inserting its finger section before the bushing then connecting the tube and forcing screw to the finger section while keeping the forcing screw backed out before removing the bushing with a wrench. To install a new output shaft bushing you should position your tool along with the bushing at the case then strike it using a hammer for locking it into position. The output shaft seal installer (J37668-A) helps users with aligning and installing the rear output shaft seal.
