In order to change the ignition cable, you is to observe the correct routing of the cables. Start by unplugging the ignition cable boot(s) (1, 2) from the
Ignition Coil by twisting the boot 1/2 turn and pulling only on the boot or using a tool that is meant for this purpose. Next, unplug the boot(s) from the
Spark Plug in this way too. Loosen the ignition cable separators and pull off the ignition cable(s). During the installation, apply dielectric grease gm pn 12345579 (Canadian PN 10953481) or suitable if reinstall the old cables. Never spin or turn an ignition cable, as the Spark Plug is very delicate, and turning the cables may damage the Spark Plug point or button. For six-cylinder engines with sequential ignition, gaps, and points used with the multiple spark distribution system, strictly insert the ignition cable on the outside with the terminal flush to the side. Then, put the ignition cable boot(s) on the Spark Plug and on the Ignition Coil the ignition cable boot(s) 1, 2. Lastly, check that the ignition cables are routed properly (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and corrected by firming the boot sideward to ensure a proper seat and re-installation of any loose boot and re-application of new dielectric grease in the boot if it was just installed or the boot installed or put on the Spark Plug.
