Cleaning the area surrounding the Camshaft Position Sensor (LY2/LY5/LH6/LMG) becomes vital before replacement to keep engine debris away. The first step involves vehicle support and connector removal of the engine wiring harness electrical from the CMP sensor wire harness. You must remove both CMP sensor wire harness bolts (1, and 6) along with the wire harness itself. After removing the CMP sensor there is an O-ring seal that also needs removal. Check for any cuts or damage on the O-ring seal before applying clean engine oil to install it on the sensor. Connect the CMP sensor to the front cover while positioning the CMP sensor wire harness after the sensor. Fitting and torques namely 12 N.m (106 lb in) the CMP sensor wire harness bolts (1, and 6). Finish this process by attaching the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the CMP sensor wire harness while lowering the vehicle.
