Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pushrod Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the pushrod and valve rocker arm on Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
    A:
The first step when replacing valve Rocker Arms and pushrods is to tag and arrange all components according to reassembly order before proceeding. You start the replacement process by taking off the Rocker Arm cover while proceeding to remove rocker arms together with Rocker Arm supports and pushrods. Carefully examine both rocker arms and pushrods while cleans them according to requirement. Part installation requires parts to be placed in their specific order before putting them back in their original positions. Insert both pushrods and Rocker Arm supports by verifying that the arrow mark points towards the upward direction. Lubricate the Rocker Arm surfaces using gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or equivalent on Pushrod socket and roller pivot and valve stem tip. Start the first three bolts at locations , , and using finger torque before tightening the remaining bolts on the rocker arms. Reposition the crankshaft balancer for alignment by moving its alignment mark between 57-63 degrees through engine front cover alignment tab in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Completely tighten the Rocker Arm bolts to 30 nm and 22 ft. Lbs. After correct torquing of the installed rocker arms further valve lash adjustment becomes unnecessary. In the last step you must mount the Rocker Arm cover.
