How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) on Chevrolet Colorado?

Begin KS replacement by elevating the vehicle only enough to reach the sensor through the wheelhouse and afterward remove the left wheelhouse liner. Engine wiring harness electrical connector must be removed from the Knock Sensor before you can extract the KS from the engine block. Attach the KS to its mounting position in the engine block so the electrical terminals stay oriented toward the rear while exerting 25 N.m (18 lb ft) torque on the knock sensor (KS) bolt. Reconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the KS while also reinstalling the left wheelhouse liner and lowering the vehicle.

How to service the knock sensor on Chevrolet S10?

Before beginning Knock Sensor maintenance always disconnect and safely handle the negative Battery Cable while following the specified battery disconnect caution procedures. Start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable but follow the battery disconnect warning. Next remove Distributor and fuel pipe components and disconnect knockout sensor harness connector. First remove the retaining bolt holding the Knock Sensor then extract the sensor. The new Knock Sensor requires bolt installation using 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque specifications. After reconnecting the negative Battery Cable, return the fuel pipes, distributor and Knock Sensor harness connector in order.
