In the Chevrolet HHR vehicles, the wet sump system includes an Oil Pan through which acts as a reservoir for oil to the engine. The overall design of the oil pan is intended to make sure that the oil pump pickup tube screen remains submerged in the oil at all times and thus the pump pulls the oil and distributes it in the engine to satisfy the functions of lubrication and cooling. The earlier models of oil pans incorporated stamped steel; however, the current engine models boast of cast aluminum reservoirs. The oil pan is determinative to the supply of oil in the engine in avoiding tendencies of leaks, making the engines run efficiently.
