To replace the Differential case, you need to remove the rear Differential carrier cover initially. Then, install the j 45222 - spreader and the dt 49909 - adapters, fixing the rear Differential assembly's in a vise. The j 8001-dial indicator set needs to preloaded and have zero readings, but one should not over-extend the Differential carrier of the spreader by more than 1.02mm (0.040 in), in an attempt to eliminate Differential case assembly. No two bearing caps are the same, mark the left and right bearing cap before taking them off with the Differential bearing cap and bolts. For vehicles with electronic locking Differential, then remove an electronic locking Differential coil bracket and grommet as well as relocating the wire and grommet away from influence during removal. Once you have the Differential case assembly out of the axle housing, apply the right axle lubricant to the Differential side bearings and install the Differential case assembly onto the Differential carrier. For the vehicles with electronic locking Differential, install the coil wire and the grommet on the Differential housing, and then install the bearing caps on the Differential case. Hand tighten the bearing cap bolts before tightening them; then, bolt on the bearing caps and bolts. These are various side bearings, and they should be adjusted and also make the Differential side bearing preload and the backlash. The check of the gear tooth pattern must also be completed. Lastly, add 63 nm (46 lb ft) to the bearing cap bolts, evacuate the j 45935 - fixture and the dt 49909 - adapters from the front drive axle housing, and place the rear Differential carrier cover.
