Chevrolet Classic Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in a car with an automatic transmission on Chevrolet Classic?
    A:
Autonomous transmission vehicles require removal of the Exhaust Manifold before beginning replacement of the Thermostat. Begin by draining the cooling system before you remove Thermostat Housing to water pump feed pipe bolts. Then detach the Thermostat Housing to water pump feed pipe. Then, take out the Thermostat. Begin installation by positioning the new Thermostat then installing the Thermostat Housing to water pump feed pipe immediately afterward. Tighten the Thermostat Housing to water pump feed pipe bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstallation of the Exhaust Manifold happens first followed by cooling system filling up when working with automatic transmission models.
