To replace the outer rack and pinion Tie Rod ends one first raises and supports the vehicle. Remove tire and wheel and loosen the outer Tie Rod jam nut and then the outer Tie Rod retaining nut. With the steering linkage and Tie Rod puller (J 24319-B), remove the outer Tie Rod from the Steering Knuckle and record the number of turnouts when removal for that purpose. Then, bolt the outer Tie Rod to the inner Tie Rod just as many times as indicated above but do not tighten the jam nut just yet. Mount the outer Tie Rod to the Steering Knuckle and tighten the outer Tie Rod retaining nut to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Lastly, replace the tire and wheel, drop the vehicle, and align the front toe.
