  The first step to change the Hood Cable requires opening the hood while you disconnect the Hood Latch. You should detach the hood release cable from its Hood Latch attachment point and make a binding with string around the cable so it can pass through the engine compartment. Afterward separate the hood release handle from the vehicle by taking off its three fasteners then disconnect the hood release cable from the handle. Secure another string segment around the cable to make it easier to route through the engine compartment. Extract both the hood release cable grommet and cable from inside the wheel opening of the vehicle. The installation process requires moving the string ends through the passenger compartment and finally removing the string after both ends reach their respective ends of the new hood release cable. The hood release cable joins with the hood release handle after the grommet receives its proper placement in the wheel opening. Secure the handle to the vehicle using three fasteners which must be tightened to 2 n.m (18 lb in). The string and hood release cable must be pulled through the engine compartment while removing the string afterward to connect the cable to the Hood Latch before Hood Latch installation and hood closing.
