For installation, lubricate the insulators once more to ease installation and with aid, install the Muffler pipe assembly to the exhaust system hangers (1, 2, and 3). Mount the Muffler assembly to the resonator, making sure the Muffler assembly is positioned to the three-way Catalytic Converter clamp bolt and tighten it to 44 nm (32 lb ft). Lastly, but not least, reduce the vehicle and check the exhaust system for leaks.

How to replace the left exhaust muffler on Cadillac XLR?

First, lift the vehicle and properly support it before moving on to change the left exhaust Muffler. Released the left exhaust Muffler clamp and took out the Muffler and the hanger. For installation, determine the location of the Muffler band clamp on the intermediate Exhaust Pipe, then grind off the old clamp from the weld. Mount a new Muffler band clamp on the second Exhaust Pipe and place the left Muffler, sliding it into the hanger. Stretch the new Muffler band clamp and adjust it with the previous marked spot so the clamp bolt does not go over the Exhaust Pipe. Tightening the right side exhaust Muffler clamp to a 44 n.m (32 lb ft) (make sure that the vehicle is lowered).
