Before servicing the back up lamp you must pull down the trim on the rear compartment lid. First disconnect the electrical connector and remove all fasteners that hold the back up lamp assembly before removing the assembly whole. After dismantling the bulb assembly you should remove the bulb itself. Start by putting the bulb into the socket then putting the bulb assembly into the back up lamp assembly. Insert the wire harness through the body and fasten the back up lamp assembly onto the rear compartment lid using the fasteners while tightening each one to 4.5 n.m (40 lb in). Reattach the electrical connection after you put back the rear compartment lid trim.

Start by opening the liftgate then taking off the liftgate applique to access the back up lamp. To remove the back up lamp socket turn the tool counterclockwise and take out the lamp holder from the liftgate applique. To place the new bulb into the socket adjust the back up lamp socket through the liftgate applique by inserting and rotating it clockwise. Place the liftgate applique back into position before shutting the liftgate again.
