Start by unmounting the air cleaner assembly device made for either 3.6l or 3.5l engines. Take off the Hood Cable from the Hood Latch bracket then detach it from the Hood Latch. The Hood Cable retainers should be disconnected from their positions on both the upper tie bar and the engine compartment side rail. Take out the hood release handle cable by pulling back the carpet in order to reach the component while maintaining the wire or string inside the passenger area. Use the wire or string to attach its end to the Hood Cable for future cable installation. You need to remove the grommet from the dash with a small flat-bladed tool while you complete the Hood Cable replacement steps in the dash area and then remove the wire or string from the cable. The installation requires using the wire or string to connect to the new Hood Cable before inserting it into the vehicle to draw the grommet into position.
