The process of replacing the right Exhaust Manifold starts with disconnecting the negative
Battery Cable followed by removing the throttle body air inlet duct and the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body and both the
MAP Sensor and
EGR Valve. Service access requires engine rotation before removing the ignition module with bracket and
Ignition Coils as well as
Spark Plug Wires from right bank engine plugs and the
Oxygen Sensor electrical connector of the evaporative emissions (EVAP) solenoid bracket. The exhaust crossover pipe should be removed first before raising and supporting the vehicle so technicians can uninstall the
Catalytic Converter, Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts, heat shields, manifold nuts, and Exhaust Manifold with its attached gasket. Prepare the right side surfaces of the engine Exhaust Manifold and both sealing patches on the cylinder head for application. When replacing the Exhaust Manifold it is necessary to take out both the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve pipe and the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). To reinstall the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve pipe the system must be raised with a supporting method. The work proceeds with installing the Exhaust Manifold Gasket followed by installing the Exhaust Manifold and torquing the manifold nuts to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Secure the bolts at 10 n.m for lower and upper Exhaust Manifold heat shields to achieve 89 lb in torque. After replacing the parts install the Catalytic Converter followed by the exhaust crossover pipe and then the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield. Install Spark Plug Wires into the right bank spark plugs of the engine while connecting the evap solenoid bracket along with8615n.m (12 lb ft) torquing of the ignition module and ignition coils with bracket. The installation begins with the engine rotation to its original position followed by attachment of the EGR Valve to the intake manifold and the MAP Sensor then the accelerator cable bracket installation to the throttle body while completing the procedure by installing the throttle body air inlet duct before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
