To service and repair the Crankshaft Position Sensor, one can start by installing a scan tool and running the powertrain control module (PCM) to look for dtcs and treat the other record of dtcs other than p1336 by checking the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) list for more details. Choose the crankshaft position (CKP) variation learn procedure from the scan tool and note the fuel cut-off of the enquired engine. Follow the scan tool's instructions: block the drive wheels, activate the vehicle's parking brake, cycle the ignition from off to on, press and keep the Brake Pedal down, turn the engine on and allow it an idle while turning the a/c off to leave it off, place the vehicle's transmission in park (A/T) or neutral (M/T). Ckp, cmp, and ect will be monitored by the scan tool; if the ect is cool, idle the engine until it has warmed up to a proper temperature. Run the system variation learn procedure using the ckp scan instrument during the learn procedures, release the accelerator pedal when the engine begins to decelerate during learn procedure, bringing the engine to the operater control. Slowly increase the engine speeds to the observed rpm's and drop the throttle when fuelling out. The scan tool will show "learn status: learned this ignition." if the message is not displayed and no other dtcs are detected, look for the following symptoms that may be associated to the engine. In cases where there is a dtc, look for a dtc list to obtain relevant information. Finally, turn off the ignition for 30 seconds after a successful end of the learning procedure.
