    The servicing process begins with a scan tool installation to check the powertrain control module (PCM) for dtcs followed by documentation of any dtcs that appear unless p1336 is present. Consult the diagnostic trouble code list if further information is required. Use the tool to select the crankshaft position (CKP) variation learn procedure then check for fuel cut-off events in the vehicle's engine. Follow the scan tool's instructions: start by blocking the drive wheels while engaging the parking brake and cycling the ignition from off to on position. Keep holding the brake pedal while starting and idling the engine before turning off the a/c system. Finish by placing the transmission in park (A/T) or neutral (M/T). During the scanning process the tool will display information about ckp and cmp signals in addition to engine ect readings. Make appropriate adjustments when any identified conditions fail to meet their requirements. During the system learn process use the scan tool to release the throttle immediately after the engine starts decelerating so engine control can resume for the operator. Advance the engine speed slowly until reaching the observed rpm then let go of the throttle at fuel cut-off.
