- Q: How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 2 (Left Side) Intake on 2010 GMC Acadia?A: The first step in replacing the bank 2 (Left Side) intake Camshaft position actuator is to remove its corresponding left exhaust Camshaft actuator. The maintenance process starts with removing the left intake Camshaft position actuator bolt which precedes extraction of the left intake Camshaft position actuator. Verify that the new actuator has the in marking on its body because this marks it as an intake part during installation. Engine performance will remain unaffected by the correct placement of actuators during the installation process and engine codes will not trigger. The reluctor wheel on the right intake Camshaft position actuator has a unique indexing system with different alignment compared to the left one which requires proper placement at the sprocket tooth peak. The outer ring circle marker of the Camshaft position actuator should match the specific timing chain link highlighted on the left engine side. When installing the actuator bolt avoid rotating the Camshaft through the use of an open wrench on its hex-shaped Camshaft integration. Install the bolt in a loose manner then tighten it while maintaining the wrench at the Camshaft hex to avoid rotation. Install the left exhaust Camshaft actuator as the last step.
