The Cam Gear is one of the parts that are crucial in increasing the performance as well as the durability of GMC Acadia models. This new Cam Gear is directly linked to the camshaft so that minimum changes in the valve timing could be made to maxout torque and horsepower. Thus, the Cam Gear contributes to the improvement of the engine's efficiency through advancing or retarding timing to guarantee the drivers to enjoy both velocity and promptness. The Cam Gear presented here corresponds to multiple GMC Acadia years, 2007 to the most recent model. The contribution of the Cam Gear reliability in the safety aspect of the car owes to the fact that it organizes the performance of the engine in different driving conditions. There are a few interesting peculiarities regarding the GMC Acadia: it possesses rather potent safety characteristics, namely, a six airbag system; together with those performance features, which are arising from utilization of the Cam Gear, the car will indeed provide its drivers and passengers with elegant security. Also, Cam Gear is one of the unique products in the automobile market, especially, the long time durability of core motor parts, contributing to enhancing the performance of a vehicle's engine. Being an essential part of the car system, the Cam Gear is a perfect representation of GMC's focus on the quality and modern technologies implemented into cars; thus, it is an important addition for any car owner willing to make their GMC Acadia even better.

GMC Acadia Cam Gear Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Tools Are Required to Replace the Cam Gear on Bank 2 (Left Side) Exhaust on GMC Acadia?
    A:
Workers need to use the en-48313 Timing Chain retention tool (EN-48313) to work on the camshaft position actuator on bank 2 left side exhaust. First take off the lower Intake Manifold together with the upper manifold followed by extracting the left camshaft cover then the left intake and exhaust Camshaft Position Sensors. Take out the solenoid for the left intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator. Work the crankshaft balancer bolt forward one turn only until you find and position the camshafts at neutral low tension without using tools to support the camshaft cover rail. Use a paint stick to make matching positions between Timing Chain links and adjacent tooth sets on both the exhaust and intake camshaft position actuators. Place an open-end wrench at the hex cast on left camshafts to loosen the chain between actuators and then unscrew en-48313 to pull back its feet. Set the en-48313 between camshaft actuators with its bottom surface touching the cylinder head top and arrange feet on tool legs toward engine front. Reduce the expansion extent of the en-48313's legs by rotating the t-handle clockwise, fit the leg below the Timing Chain Guide, and shift the tool until the Timing Chain meets its legs without being secured. Use your hand to fasten the en-48313 before applying an open-end wrench and moving the Timing Chain toward slack position. The en-48313 tool effectively contains the Timing Chain at its intended location. Use an open-end wrench on the camshaft to stop engine rotation before you loosen the camshaft position actuator bolt. Afterward, take out the left exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and the actuator while placing the chain over the engine block. Slide the opening of the actuator to fit the cam sensor boss. Fasten the Timing Chain over the en-48313 when working on both actuators simultaneously. To reassemble the components place a mark on the Timing Chain and actuator to locate them correctly during installation. Set the exhaust camshaft actuator alignment mark at the Timing Chain mark and do the same for the intake camshaft actuator. Fit the exhaust camshaft actuator onto the camshaft and put bolt manually until the en-48313 tool is removed then torque exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft). Put in the left intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids alongside their sensors and the lower Intake Manifold with upper manifold. Also put in both the left intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors plus the left camshaft cover.
  • Q: How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 1 (Right Side) Exhaust on GMC Acadia?
    A:
The procedure to replace the camshaft position actuator on bank 1 starts by removing its lower and upper intakes before detaching the right camshaft cover. Unplug both Camshaft Position Sensors from their right locations before taking out their actuator solenoids also. For proper placement turn the crankshaft balancer bolt clockwise only until the camshafts align with the camshaft cover rail when they are in their lowest tension position. You should apply paint stick marks to both sides of the Timing Chain and to the actuators on the camshafts. These marks will show the correct alignment between components. Brace the hex area on left camshafts to make Timing Chain loose between camshaft position actuators. Insert the en-48313 tool legs between camshaft actuators. Then put its top line flat against the Cylinder Head surface. Turn the t-shaped handle clockwise to open en-48313 legs until its feet touch the Timing Chain. Keep each foot nested in chain link pockets to stop them from slipping. Turn the en-48313 handle by hand to set the tool then apply an open end wrench on the built in hex to tighten the t-handle further. Pull the camshafts closer together to create chain slack and then secure a wrench on the hex cast into the camshaft to keep the engine from spinning as you turn the camshaft position actuator bolt. Set the chain on the engine block as you remove the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and the actuator unit from its socket. To take out the actuator reluctor wheel you need to match its opening with the cam sensor boss. To install align the exhaust camshaft actuator mark with Timing Chain mark while matching intake camshaft actuator mark to its proper Timing Chain position. Install the exhaust camshaft actuator onto its camshaft position then bolt it by hand before removing the en-48313 component. Set the exhaust camshaft actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft) torque and put back the right intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids, sensors, cover, and finally the lower Intake Manifold with upper manifold.
