2008 GMC Envoy Door Check Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the door check link on 2008 GMC Envoy?
A: The first step to replace the door check begins with removing door trim panel and front half of the water deflector to reach the door access hole. Begin by unfastening the bolt positioned on the front lower window run channel then remove the two bolts which hold the check to the pillar. You must detach the check rubber dust boot to reach the door retaining nuts before unscrewing those two nuts that hold the check assembly inside the door through its access hole. Fitting the check assembly requires insertion through the door access hole with the position arrow oriented toward the front direction. Reassemble the rubber dust boot to the check after installing both check retaining nuts on the door and tightening them to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Attach and tighten the check to the pillar using 2 bolts which should reach 15 N.m (11 lb ft) torque before installing the front lower window run channel. The final step entails reattaching the door trim panel after securing the water deflector into its complete position.
