2008 Cadillac XLR Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump (RPO LH2 - 8 CYL, 4.6L, DOHC, HO) on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first task to replace the Power Steering Pump (RPO LH2 - 8 CYL, 4.6L, DOHC, HO) requires removal of the power steering fluid reservoir. You need to remove the pulley secured to the Power Steering Pump. Take off the Power Steering Reservoir outlet pipe/hose as well as the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the pump. Next in the sequence you should take out the mounting bolts that secure the Power Steering Pump. Start Power Steering Pump installation by placing mounting bolts on the pump then tighten each bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Reinstall both the Power Steering Reservoir outlet pipe/hose and power steering gear inlet pipe/hose on the pump body. The power steering fluid reservoir should be installed after mounting the Power Steering Pump pulley. The power steering system needs to be filled and bled as the last step before closing the system.
