How to replace the lower control arm (RWD) on 2008 Cadillac STS?

The process begins with vehicle lifts followed by support of the vehicle before relocating to the next step. Start by removing tire and wheel and then air deflector. Begin by unscrewing the shock module yoke bolt from the lower Control Arm and next remove the stabilizer shaft link lower nut along with the stabilizer shaft link off the lower Control Arm. Disengage the abs wire harness from the lower Control Arm while tracking the ball stud's position using hand tools that prevent its rotation. Use the ball joint separator (J 42188) to split the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle after you remove the lower Control Arm ball joint nut. To create clearance raise the power steering gear and then loosen its retaining bolts. First unscrew the lower Control Arm to cradle nuts and bolts before removing the lower Control Arm out of the vehicle. When installing the new lower Control Arm place the unit in position before attaching the cradle bolts while maintaining normal vehicle ride height with the lower Control Arm. Install cradle nuts at 135 n.m (96 lb ft) torque values and subsequently tighten power steering gear retaining bolts to 120 n.m (89 lb ft). Mount the new lower Control Arm ball joint nut while driving the torque to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) then turn it another 180 degrees. After installation of the abs wire harness and stabilizer shaft link together with the stabilizer shaft link lower retaining nut tighten it to 110 n.m (81 lb ft). After installing the shock module yoke to the lower Control Arm bolt with a torque of 250 n.m (184 lb ft) you should reinstall the air deflector along with the tire and wheel and lower the vehicle before checking front end alignment.
