How to replace the tailgate latch and cable assembly on 2007 Chevrolet Colorado?

In order to install a new endgate lock and cable assembly, get the endgate open and supported and take the cover off. Disengage the latch rods and remove the support cable. Unscrew the bolts attaching the assembly and remove the latch. Refit the assembly, making sure that it is in place, and lock it in place before closing the endgate.
