How to replace the tailgate latch and cable assembly on Chevrolet Colorado?

To remove the endgate cover and replace the endgate latch and cable assembly, first, support the endgate then make it open. Remove the clips that retain the latch rods to the handle and remove the latch rods from thereof. Then, pull the support cable forward to remove it from the end gate striker bolt head. They will want to remove the bolts holding the latch/support cable assembly to the endgate and pull out the latch assembly. For installation the latch/support cable assembly should be placed on the endgate with the latch rod oriented properly to the end gate handle. Mount the bolts to join the assembly to endgate in 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Mount the support cable on the bolt head of the endgate striker bolt, feed the latch rods into the retaining clips and attach clips to the endgate handle. Finally, install the end gate cover and close the endgate.
