  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: To replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, turn the ignition OFF and drain the coolant system to the level below the ECT sensor. Remove the ECT sensor memory cable connector from the connector assembly on the 4.0L OHV engine and disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.Carefully remove the ECT sensor from the ECM. When installing the new or original sensor if we do not have a sealer coat the threads with sealer Saturn P/N 21485278 or an equivalent one. Install the ECT sensor and fasten it to a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the ECT sensor electrical connection and re-fill the engine coolant system. When working on the coolant temperature sensor, handle it properly as damage will affect the function of the fuel control system and only be replaced with the correct part number for the application that requires the specified torque to do so, preventing damage.
