- Q: How to Replace a Shock Absorber Module on 2007 Cadillac SRX?A: The shock module replacement process starts with vehicle support and tire removal along with the wheel. Remove the shock yoke from its position as the following step. When working on vehicles equipped with electronic suspension control (ESC) or automatic headlamp aiming you should disconnect the suspension position sensor link rod from the upper Control Arm. Ball stud rotation must be prevented throughout the process through the use of hand tools because air tools can result in damaging the ball stud. Insert a hex-head tool between the upper Control Arm and Steering Knuckle while you remove the retaining nut to prevent ball stud slipping when you take off the upper Control Arm-to-Steering Knuckle nut. Lower the vehicle after separating the upper Control Arm from the Steering Knuckle through the use of the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B). Vehicles with esc systems need the removal of the shock module top mounting bolts and the shock module after disconnecting the damper coil harness connector. Position the shock module inside the vehicle before attaching the upper mounting bolts which should be tightened to 112 n.m (83 lb ft). Vehicles equipped with esc require reconnecting the damper coil harness connector followed by raising the vehicle after which install the upper Control Arm to the Steering Knuckle while torquing the retaining nut to 80 n.m (59 lb ft). Install the shock yoke followed by the shock to the yoke after connecting the suspension position sensor link rod on esc and automatic headlamp aiming vehicles. Finish the process by installing the tire followed by wheel replacement then lower the vehicle.
