How to Service and Repair a Tailgate Latch on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?

In order to change tailgate latch, open the rear compartment lid and lower the tailgate. Take out the tailgate liner, access panel, latch fasteners and latch. Install the release rod, attach it to the latch and reassemble the components and close the tailgate.
