    A: The tool required for power steering return hose replacement is the power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586). The first step involves removing the Power Steering Hose retaining nut together with the retaining bracket before disconnecting the power steering return hose from the Power Steering Pump. Parking the vehicle on a hoof will allow access to remove the retaining bolt and screw from the cooler pipe brackets. The first step requires unmounting the power steering return hose from its retainer before removing the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear. Keep the power steering return hose out of the vehicle after removing it from the power steering gear. A thorough cleaning both ports of the power steering gear protects against future contamination. You can remove the power steering gear oil seal from its placement within the power steering gear through the seal extraction end of power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586) while using a flat bladed tool as a lever. The new power steering gear oil seal needs to be fitted into the power steering gear with the installation end of the power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586) until fully seated. The power steering return hose installation on the power steering gear must be tightened until it reaches 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). At first secure the power steering return hose to the retainer while using the retaining bolt and screw to fasten them together at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Next reattach the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear and connect the power steering return hose to its proper retainer and fix the cooler pipe brackets with the retaining bolt and screw tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After lowering the vehicle connect the power steering return hose to the Power Steering Pump before installing both retaining bracket of the Power Steering Hose with its retaining nut then tighten the nut to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). After verifying that the Power Steering Hose has enough distance from the exhaust manifold the system needs to be bled to remove air pressure.
