How to replace the front brake line on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?

Raise and secure the vehicle to work on the front brake hose. Uninstall the tire and wheel first. Clear dirt and foreign objects from both brake hose ends and brake pipe fitting. Apply a flare nut wrench to the brake pipe connection point and put a back up wrench on the brake hose. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting and simultaneously clamp or seal both lines using caps or plugs to avoid fluid loss. Disassemble the brake strut by taking off its hose retainer and hose nut connections plus removing the brake caliper's bolt. Extract the brake hose from the unit. Take out and discard the two fixed copper brake hose gaskets since they may attach to the caliper or hose. Secure the openings of both components using caps or plugs. To rebuild the system place new copper brake hose gaskets and install the brake hose bolt onto the brake hose before reattaching it to the brake caliper. Place the brake caliper bolt on first and tighten it to 50 nm before attaching the brake hose nut to the strut. Secure the nut to 14 nm. Place the brake hose on top of the brake hose body bracket and fit into position before attaching the brake hose retainer across its anti-rotation tabs. Smoothly attach the brake pipe fitting to the hose using a second wrench on the brake hose to reach 20nm torque specification. During maximum turns inspect if the hose touches suspension components; take action by detaching the hose and resolving the problem. Complete the brake bleeding process then put on the tire and wheel unit before lowering the vehicle.
