2006 Chevrolet Impala Steering Angle Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to center the Steering Angle Sensor on 2006 Chevrolet Impala?
A: To centre the Steering Angle Sensor, first look at the type of sensor by referencing in illustrations before removing. The right sensor connector front will be on the right. If one can reuse the existing sensor, no alignment will be needed before the removal. Remove sensor connector and take the sensor out of the adapter bearing assembly. During installation, the front of the sensor should have the following: firstly a foam ring; secondly a pin hole for center; and finally a flush rotor flange cuff; on the front. In case of reusing the sensor, attach an alignment mark on the rotor flange cuff before detaching it; this is for avoiding misalignment while using it again. After removing the connector, install the sensor, making sure that the front has a raised rotor flange cuff, an alignment mark, and a pin hole. Again, repeat the removal and installation process so that the front of the sensor has a flush rotor flange cuff and a pin hole for centering. When installing, make sure that the sensor is aligned with the Steering Shaft and the connection is safely attached. In the case of reusing the sensor, match the marks on the rotor flange cuff while installing it, keeping it aligned till the sensor is seated. During the installation of a new sensor, do not remove the pin until the sensor is lodged. The sensor will have a raised rotor flange cuff on the front of it besides a pin hole and an alignment mark. Finally, make sure the connector is installed correctly, with the back of the sensor displaying an alignment tab for the correct installation.
