How to Overhaul Rear Brake Calipers (JL9-J55) on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?

After plugging the brake hose for protection against fluid leaks and contamination remove the brake caliper from the vehicle for maintenance (JL9-J55). Place the caliper in soft-jawed vise equipment to protect its aluminum structure. And position suitable equipment between brake pads so pistons stay still when applying compressed air pressure. Use the c-clamp as a tool to secure a Brake Pad on the side facing away from the Piston removal point while applying clean non-oiled compressed air to extract the Piston out of the caliper. Execute this clamp procedure to every Piston until the extraction task is complete. A long medium-bladed screwdriver removes the dust seal from the caliper body before the small flat-bladed pocket screwdriver extracts the Piston seal. It's necessary to remove the brake pipe between inboard and outboard pistons when damage is observed. The brake pipe should have finger tightness before torque application to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) follows for Piston sealing installation into the bore and Piston installation. Set the dust seal into the Piston bore where its curved top will rest slightly above the caliper surface. The xxxxxxxxxxxxx allows you to install the dust seal by first setting the c-clamp and cup on the caliper then aligning the tool with the dust seal while exerting pressure until the seal fully seats within the Piston bore. Follow the same installation procedure for all the serviced pistons after extracting the stop-tool with vise. Use a small flat-bladed pocket screwdriver to slowly insert the dust seal into the Piston's groove before you reinstall the brake caliper and change any needed brake pads.
