2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Start by turning off the negative Battery Cable and removing both the Drive Belt together with the air cleaner outlet resonator. The installer begins the generator removal process by disconnecting generator connectors after they remove generator bolts. Position the generator onto the engine before you install generator bolts to reach 22 n.m torque (16 lb ft). Attach the positive battery harness to the generator battery terminal while tightening the terminal nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Connect the generator's harness terminals before you install the air cleaner outlet resonator and Drive Belt. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable as the last installation step.
