  A: Prior to installing a new inflatable restraint front end sensor users are required to disable the SIR system. Start by securely attaching the sensor before power application to prevent sensor deployment and avoid injuries. First remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (1,6) from the wiring harness connector that leads to the inflatable restraint front end sensor (3,4). Next detach the wiring harness connector (2,5) from the front end sensor (3,4). Start by loosening the front-end sensor mounting fasteners (8,9) at the upper tie bar which feature left-hand thread orientation before extracting the sensor (3,4) from the bar. Install the mounting fasteners (8,9) on the sensor (3,4), while orienting the sensor horizontally towards the vehicle's front. Tighten the fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Put the front end sensor (3,4) connector (2,5) together before attaching the CPA (1,6) to the front end sensor wiring harness connector. Finally, enable the SIR system.
