2004 Chevrolet SSR Bumper Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear bumper fascia on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: You must start the rear bumper fascia replacement by opening the rear compartment lid followed by end gate lowering. Start by removing the rear compartment sill plate and afterward detach the rear fascia upper fasteners. Begin by shutting the end gate then remove the wheelhouse retainers which are attached to the rear fascia. Before you can remove the rear fascia from the vehicle you must disconnect its wiring harness from the body side harness and then remove the center brace support bracket bolt and rear fascia side attaching fasteners. Install the fascia by aligning it with the body while fasteners on the rear fascia side must be tightened to 6 N.m (53 lb in). Join the rear fascia wiring harness with the body side harness before inserting the rear wheelhouse retainers into the fascia assembly and tightening wheelhouse fasteners to 6 N.m (53 lb in). After putting in the center brace support bracket bolt you should lower the end gate before fixing the rear fascia upper fasteners into place. Conclude the installation by attaching the rear compartment sill plate then fasten the rear fascia hardware to 6 N.m (53 lb in). After that, shut both the end gate and rear compartment lid.
