Open the rear compartment lid while lowering the endgate to begin replacing the tailgate latch. Begin the installation by removing the endgate access panel followed by the endgate liner in the rear compartment. Start by removing the endgate latch fasteners and extracting the endgate latch from the vehicle and finally disconnect the latch release rod from the endgate latch. The installation process requires you to attach the latch release rod to the latch before putting the endgate latch into the endgate. Secure endgate fasteners at 10 N.m (88 lb in) torque. Place the rear compartment endgate liner down first followed by reinstalling the endgate access panel then close both the endgate and rear compartment lid.
