How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

To change the rear compartment lid latch you need to first open the rear storage area. First remove the rear compartment interior release handle then take out the electrical connector from the rear compartment lid latch. Unfasten and detach bolts that connect the rear compartment lid latch to the lid. Also remove the complete lid latch unit with its release cable. Place the rear compartment lid latch onto its designated position on the rear compartment lid while following the fastener notice for correct assembly. Add fasteners to the rear compartment lid latch and tighten them to 25 Nm (18 lb ft) before attaching the electrical connector and rear compartment lid latch interior release handle. Set back the trim panel from the rear compartment before closing the compartment.
