2003 Cadillac Escalade Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2003 Cadillac Escalade?
A: To replace the Steering Knuckle, start by jacking the vehicle and removing the tire and wheel. Next, extract the Wheel Hub and the bearing, upper Ball Joint and lower Ball Joint. Loose the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle with the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) after loosening the outer tie rod retaining nut and bracket. First, an external striker bolt, which holds an external cable bank, should be removed from the steering-knuckle by the user, and then the steering-knuckle should be extracted from the vehicle. For the purpose of installation seat the new Steering Knuckle onto the car and then the upper and lower ball joints. Reconnect the park brake cable retaining bolt to the Steering Knuckle and tighten to 65 n.m (48 lb ft). Install Wheel Hub and bearing, and securing the outer tie rod retaining nut to the Steering Knuckle with a 55 n.m pure (40 lb ft) wrench. Also attach the outer tie rod retaining bracket and tighten it to 65 n.m (48 lb ft). Lastly, fit the tire and wheel back, lower the vehicle, and carry out a four-wheel alignment.
