• Q: How to replace the A/C Hose inlet on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: To replace the evaporator tube inlet, start by removing the air cleaner assembly and the Cruise Control Module electrical connector, and then moving it out of the way. Remove both bolt mounting bracket and bracket self that hold cruise module. Extract the refrigerant from the a/c system, remove the Wiper Motor module. Next, remove the evaporator inlet tube clamp nut, and to do this disconnect the electrical connector from the a/c pressure sensor, then remove the sensor from the evaporator inlet tube. By detaching the outlet tube of the evaporator from the txv and detaching the inlet tube from the opening tube, make sure to cap or tape the txv and the components of the a/c refrigerant to avoid contamination. Break connections at the top of the evaporator by removing evaporator inlet tube to condenser fitting bolt and detach inlet tube from condenser and also cap or tape condenser as well. Take away the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt and the inlet tube itself, and raise the outlet tube bracket carefully for clearance. Discard the sealing washers and seat new ones on the evaporator inlet tube before refitting it, periodically raising the outlet tube bracket for clearance. Replace the bucket holder nut with a 5.5 n.m (45 lb in) bolt. If you have a condenser cap, remove it or tape; use the evaporator inlet tube, and attach it to the condenser, and fasten its corresponding bolt up to a torque of 16 n.m (12 lb ft). When removing the cap or tape of the txv, the inlet tube is also attached to the outlet tube and then outlet tube should be fixed to the txv and the nut on the outlet tube to be tight to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Replace the evaporator inlet tube clamp nut and secure it with 3.3 n.m (29 lb in), then replace a/c pressure sensor and secure it with 5 n.m (44 lb in). Connect the electric connector to the a/c pressure sensor, re-install the Wiper Motor module and the air cleaner assembly back. Replace the Cruise Control Module mounting bracket and bolts, which should be tightened to 6 n.m (53 lb in) and then install the Cruise Control Module and reconnect its electrical connector. Finally, evacuate the a/c system and recharge it (A/C Q&A, Part C Step 5), and conduct a leak test of the fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
