- Q: How to replace the throttle cable from the cruise actuator to the throttle on 2002 Chevrolet Prizm?A: The first step for replacement of the Throttle Cable from the cruise actuator to the throttle involves loosening cable adjusting locknuts followed by removing the Throttle Cable from its bracket. After disconnecting the Throttle Cable from the throttle lever the component will remove more easily due to the open throttle lever position by manual operation. You should begin by applying light outside pressure at the bottom of the cruise control actuator cover until it becomes removable. From there remove the cable attaching screw and Throttle Cable from the bracket. The Throttle Cable needs to be operated out of the actuator lever while it also clears the cable guide clip. Install the Throttle Cable on the actuator lever before placing it in the bracket while using a single screw for attachment with torque at 2 n.m (18 lb in). Open the throttle lever manually to begin installation of the cruise control actuator cover under minimal pressure followed by Throttle Cable connection to the throttle lever. Fasten the Throttle Cable to the accelerator cable bracket before installing it onto the cable guide clip. Proceed with installing the 2 nuts which will secure the cable adjusting locknuts after setting them to let the Throttle Cable have some freedom of movement with the throttle lever. Then use torque wrenches to tighten both nuts to a value of 8 n.m (71 lb in).
