You must take the brake caliper out of the vehicle with caution because putting your fingers in front of the Piston as compressed air enters can cause harm. Stick clean cloth pieces inside the housing when you remove pistons but make sure to add enough air so they exit without damage. Let compressed air enter the caliper bore through its fluid inlet to push out the brake caliper pistons. A slim wooden or plastic tool helps you take out the Piston dust boot seals and Piston seals from their locations in both bores and counterbores. Wipe all parts of the caliper using denatured alcohol or similar cleaning fluid free of abrasives. Use non-lubricated filtered compressed air to dry cleaned areas then check the caliper bores for damage. Apply fine emery paper to scrape off light caliper rust or corrosion; when it cannot be removed do a new caliper unit. Replace the caliper system when you find cracks, scoring marks, damaged surfaces, serious rust damage, and corrosion spots. If the caliper pistons display damage during testing you need to order new parts. Put delco supreme 11 gm p/n 12377967 brake fluid or equivalent dot-3 product into new Piston seals from a sealed container and carefully place seals into the caliper bores. Put the new Piston dust boot seal inside the Piston first and insert the caliper pistons into their bores while making sure the boots fit correctly in their specified tracks. Secure the caliper bleed screw at 12 nm torque and put back its cap. Reinstall the caliper to its original position.
