Pull off the air bag clock spring retainer clip and the air bag clock spring and remove the wave washer from the steering column upper shaft. For install, position block tooth on the upper shaft at 12 o'clock allowing all fasteners to be seated before applying the required torque to prevent damage to components. Depress the centering spring while holding the wave washer onto the steering column upper shaft, ensuring that the air bag clock spring is centered because it can fall off once the steering column is separated from the steering gear or the centering spring is pressed.
