  A: Before replacing the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor you must disable the sir system while also unplugging the engine protection shield as needed. First disconnect the connector position assurance (CPA) from the sensor harness connector before removing the harness connector from the sensor. The fasteners need removal before removing the sensor from its vehicle location. Use a chisel tool to remove deteriorated weld nuts before installing a new one (GM P/N 11514034 or equivalent) followed by mig weld application. For sensor mounting hole or fastener damages discard damaged parts and condition lower tie front end surface. Reinstall your vehicle with either gm p/n 11515926 or an equivalent fastener. Careful and gentle handling of the new sensor must take place before installation to prevent jarring movements during setup. Prior to mounting clean the surface area completely followed by sensor placement with front-arrow orientation and use 10 n.m (89 lb in) torsion to fasten all screws. Connect the sensor harness in place then install the cpa. Reinstall the engine protection shield while completing an sir system activation.
