How to replace the Power Steering Hose on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

A driver must start the power steering pressure hose replacement by extracting the Drive Belt from the vehicle. Start by removing the Power Steering Hose retainer nut that connects both the retainer to the Power Steering Pump where the pressure hose is installed. The maintenance process starts with vehicle hoisting before clearing out the pressure hose from both the retainer as well as power steering gear . The hose then exits the vehicle. During installation reconnect the pressure hose to the vehicle by following guideline requirements for hose installation which includes no twists or bends. The power steering gear fitting requires 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) torque during the installation of the pressure hose. The procedure for attaching the pressure hose starts with connecting it to the retainer while lowering the vehicle to insert it into the Power Steering Pump . Tighten this connection to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). The Power Steering Hose retainer nut should be assembled to the retainer before securing it at 5 nm (45 inch lbs. Torque). Check that the Power Steering Hose maintains enough space from the exhaust manifold before reattaching the Drive Belt to the Power Steering Pump pulley. Bleeding should be performed to remove air from the power steering system.
