2001 Chevrolet Corvette Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the antenna cable from the hardtop on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to remove the Antenna Cable from the hardtop involves opening the rear compartment lid followed by removing the rh decklid support trim panel through its retaining clips. Remove the edge of rear compartment floor carpet from behind the rh decklid support before repositioning the carpet on the right side. Use these steps to begin work: start by removing the rear carpet trim panel and afterwards disconnect the front body wiring harness connectors from the decklid latch and the remote cd changer when present. Free the fixed antenna coaxial cable from the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable and unclip the front body wiring harness from its holder on the rear compartment sidewall. Before removing the front body wiring harness from the rear of the vehicle you must first free the retainers from the rear speaker housing and disconnect the rear compartment rh side trim panel. First remove the rh door sill plate along with the rh lock pillar trim panel before unfastening the front body wiring harness retainers from the lock pillar and floor panel support. Continue with releasing the front body wiring harness from the body retainers. The technician removes the tape which secures the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable to the front body wiring harness by taking out the i/p rh lower insulator panel. After removing the radio control and releasing the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable retainer from the i/p lower support beam start taking out the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable. To install the system place the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable into the vehicle position while installing the radio control. Attach the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable retainer to the i/p lower support beam while installing the i/p rh lower insulator panel. Secure the front body wiring harness to body retainers after fixing the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable to the front body wiring harness through tape. You should install the rh door sill plate after securing the front body wiring harness retainers both on the lock pillar and floor panel support. When installation is complete install the rh lock pillar trim panel. Place the front body wiring harness at the back of the vehicle while also attaching the front body wiring harness retainers to the rear speaker housing. Secure the front body wiring harness to the retaining clip on the rear compartment side wall after installation of the rear compartment rh side trim panel. Rearrange the fixed antenna coaxial cable to connect with the fixed antenna coaxial extension cable followed by connection of front body wiring harness connectors to the decklid latch and the remote cd changer when available. To finish install the rear carpet trim panel followed by fitting the rear compartment floor carpet edge behind the rh decklid support then place the rh decklid support trim panel without damaging the retaining clips before closing the rear compartment lid.
