2000 Chevrolet Corvette Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Antenna Cable for the radio control in a coupe on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Changing the radio control coaxial cable starts by carefully removing the console and ip accessory trim plate and driver knee bolster trim panel and Ignition Switch bezel from the top to unsnap them. You need to detach the retaining bolts that hold the Ignition Switch in place before moving the switch to its bracket position for coaxial cable access. First detach the radio control through the removal of screws that hold it to the ip center support bracket before gaining access to the coaxial cable. Separate the coaxial cable of the radio control from its p wiring harness connection which runs along the ip lower support beam. Start by removing the lh insulator panel below the ip then follow the cable through the hinge pillar insulation tape to disconnect from the lh door sill and lh lock pillar trims. The antenna module receives its coaxial cable disconnect while technicians remove the ip wiring harness from the body retaining clips followed by the floor panel support push-in retainers. Cut the radio control coaxial cable apart from the front windshield antenna coaxial cable as well as the ip wiring harness before removing the coaxial cable. The radio control coaxial cable needs to be positioned inside the vehicle then wrapped with tape along the ip lower support beam where it attaches to the ip harness. Alignment of the locator tab needs to be done before you install the radio control while tightening its retaining screws to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Replace the Ignition Switch onto its housing bracket with retaining bolts tightened at 5.5 n.m (49 lb in). Press the bezel into position while placing the slots over switch pins to lock it into place. Fasten the coaxial cable to insulation tape running along the hinge pillar before setting back the ip lh lower insulator panel while tying the radio control coaxial wire to the front windshield antenna coaxial wire and ip wiring harness. First install floor panel support push-in retainers onto the ip wiring harness followed by securing the harness to body retaining clips before connecting the coaxial cable to the antenna module. Install all components starting with the lh lock pillar trim followed by the lh door sill plate then the driver knee bolster trim panel and end with the ip accessory trim plate and console.
