2002 Chevrolet Corvette Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Antenna Cable in a hardtop on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Vehicle owners should begin the Antenna Cable replacement by opening the rear compartment lid then removing the right decklid support trim panel with a pull motion to detach its retaining clips. You should move the rear compartment floor carpet edge behind the right decklid support before relocating the right carpet segment. First disconnect the front body wiring harness connectors from the decklid latch and remote cd changer (when present). Then remove the rear carpet trim panel. Disconnect the fixed antenna coaxial cable which runs from the fixed antenna through the Antenna Cable while releasing the front body wiring harness from its retaining clip on the rear compartment side wall. Start by removing the rear compartment right side trim panel and continue by releasing the front body wiring harness retainers attached to the rear speaker housing before pulling the front body wiring harness out from behind the vehicle. First remove the right door sill plate along with the right lock pillar trim panel before freeing up the front body wiring harness retainers at the lock pillar and floor panel support points. Then unfasten the front body wiring harness retainers from their body retainer positions. Disassemble the tape securing the fixed antenna coaxial cable to the front body wiring harness followed by removing the ip right lower insulator panel and freeing the fixed antenna coaxial cable retainer from the ip lower support beam. First remove both the radio control and the fixed antenna coaxial cable from the system. The first step for installation involves placing the fixed antenna coaxial cable on the vehicle and afterward installing the radio control. Proceed with attaching the fixed antenna coaxial cable retainer to the ip lower support beam while replacing the ip right lower insulator panel. Apply tape to lock down the fixed antenna coaxial cable to both the front body wiring harness before attaching the front body wiring harness to its body retainers. Secure the front body wiring harness retainers on the lock pillar and floor panel support before you install the right lock pillar trim panel and right door sill plate. The front body wiring harness goes behind the vehicle and front body wiring harness retainers affix to the rear speaker housing. Put in the rear compartment right side trim panel while fastening the front body wiring harness to the retaining clip which anchors the rear compartment side wall. Attach the cable from the fixed antenna to the Antenna Cable and connect the wiring harness front body to the decklid latch and remote cd changer (if present). Complete the installation of the right decklid support trim panel by lining it up then pressing to activate retaining clips while also folding down the rear compartment lid.
