To replace the rear brake caliper (without J55) first check if the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir is above the midway point between its highest and lowest allowed levels. Drain fluid to reach that midpoint. Position the vehicle and place support stands under it. Take off the tire and wheel unit from the car. Slide the front park brake cable downwards and detach it from the park brake cable port. Use a large c-clamp with the wheel brake caliper to push the piston into the caliper bore but do not extend the piston more than 1 mm to prevent internal adjusting parts damage. Unscrew and remove the brake hose to caliper bolt to detach the brake hose from the caliper unit. Discard the two existing copper gaskets at the same time. Put seal plugs into the brake caliper and pipe openings to avoid fluid leakage. Detach the brake caliper bracket from its position on the brake caliper and keep the park brake cable intact before disconnecting the cable from its lever connection. Turn the caliper upside down after removing the lower pin bolt to attach it to the upper pin bolt. Clean and oil retainers and sleeves before installing them to position the caliper over the bolt of the upper pin and dropping it into its bracket. Position the brake caliper and install its bolts to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) torque. Next, remove plugs from brake hose ends and put on new copper brake hose gaskets before installing the remaining brake hose bolt with new gaskets and attaching it to the caliper. Place the brake hose bolt on top of the new gaskets then insert it onto the caliper and clamp with 45 nm force (33 ft. Lbs.). Join the park brake cable to its lever while attaching the park brake cable bracket properly to the caliper and tightening the bracket bolt to 43 nm (32 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the park brake cable to its connector after bleeding the brake system. Without starting the engine gently push the brake pedal twice to 2/3 of its range. Leave the tire and wheel in position for 15 seconds before reinstating them once the pedal firmness is reached.
