Begin service and repair of the M49 manual transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor by properly lifting and supporting the vehicle. Unplug the speed sensor electrical connections before you take out the speed sensor bolt and the whole vehicle speed sensor part. Rephrase the following sentence: If needed you should take out the speedometer driven gear. Install the speedometer driven gear first when you need to as you put in the vehicle speed sensor. Use the instructions in the Service Precautions Fastener Notice to install the speed sensor bolt and tighten it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Thread the speed sensor electrical cable before working the veihcle back down.
