Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the endgate on GMC Yukon XL 2500?
A:
Begin the endgate emblem replacement project by obtaining a Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). First place tape pieces to shield and position the endgate emblem area. Heat the emblem/nameplate in circular motions at 152 mm (6 inches) from the surface using the heat gun (J 25070) for 30 seconds. Use a plastic flat tool to lift the emblem/nameplate off the endgate surface. Use a cloth to clean the emblem area on the endgate panel and the reverse side of the emblem/nameplate completely. Mark the proper spot with tape if the emblem/nameplate installation area has no spots defined. Heat the endgate surface using the heat gun (J 25070) to reach minimum 21°C (70°F) but keep the gun away from the emblem adhesive side. Put the emblem/nameplate front end over the endgate panel surface and push it down as you take off its backing. Press the emblem/nameplate onto the surface of the endgate while rolling it by hand to make sure it sticks well and check for proper bonding before taking tape off from the surrounding area.
