Start by removing the crankshaft balancer bolt together with its washer before you proceed to take off the bolts securing the Crankshaft Pulley. During crankshaft balancer removal apply the j23523-f plate followed by tightening its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.), before inserting the j23523-f forcing screw to rotate clockwise for removal. Clean the crankshaft balancer with cleaning solvent and dry it with compressed air as you check for any loose front groove pins as well as worn or damaged crankshaft front oil sealing surface , deteriorated rubber , damaged keyway , or damaged bolt hole threads . Apply grease to the oil seal sealing surface of the new balancer and position the front groove pin correctly while installing. To secure the balancer onto the crankshaft use the j 23523-f tool. First apply gm p/n 12346141 (Canadian P/N 10953433) adhesive to the keyway following by pressing the tool onto the crankshaft key. After that, tighten the plate bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Subsequently install the j 23523-f screw, bearing, washer, and nut then rotate the nut giving it enough time to settle against the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring. Use the j 23523-f to install the Crankshaft Pulley bolts which need to be tightened to 58 nm (43 ft. Lbs.) before installing the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt secured with 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall all components by replacing the Drive Belt followed by the Fan Shroud assembly and restoring connection to the negative Battery Cable.
